The Bednorz-Customs-Seal is currently the only indicative seal to have received post-May 2019 approval as a Seal of a Special Type, according to Article 317 UCC-IA ('special seal'). Produced by using a patented manufacturing process, the single-piece seal body of the Bednorz-Customs-Seal is compliant with ISO/PAS 17712:2013 and guarantees the highest levels of tamper-resistance.
It has been officially approved for use as a 'special seal' since 1 March 2017, so is therefore valid throughout the European customs union.
To use the Bednorz-Customs-Seal as a 'special seal' in Germany, it has to be authorised by the local customs office (Hauptzollamt).
The Bednorz-Seal and the Bednorz-Customs-Seal are identical, except in the way they are marked.
